This week, in honor of International Education Week, we’re providing brief updates on international alumni we’ve showcased in the past.

Samer Lakis ’18 was featured in the summer 2022 issue of Connections, for his ongoing efforts to clean up the Mediterranean Sea.  Lakis, who lives in Byblos, Lebanon, is a scuba diver and the founder of Guardians of the Sea, a nonprofit that’s raising awareness of the Mediterranean’s fragile ecosystem. In December 2023, he co-authored an article in the Journal of Fisheries and Livestock Production about his discovery of three non-indigenous soft coral species of dendronephthya in the Mediterranean.
